On Friday, March 23rd, the Korea Education and Research Information Service (KERIS) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the operation of the Information Security Gifted Education Centers designated by the Ministry of Education in 2024 at the Osong & Sejong Convention and Conference Center.

This MOU was signed between KERIS, which oversees the overall operation of the Information Security Gifted Education Center program, and the Information Security Gifted Education Centers designated by the Ministry of Education in each region. It aims to stipulate the rights and obligations of both parties regarding the operation of the Information Security Gifted Education Center program in 2024 and ensure its faithful implementation.

The Information Security Gifted Education Centers designated by the Ministry of Education have been established in four regions nationwide since 2014: Seoul Metropolitan Area (Seoul Women's University), Chungcheong Region (Konkuk University), Yeongnam Region (Daegu University), and Honam Region (Mokpo National University). The centers aim to identify and nurture outstanding information security talents at an early stage and foster the next generation of information security leaders with competitive edge.

Starting in 2024, the Ministry of Education plans to gradually expand the program from the current system centered on the Information Security Gifted Education Centers of four universities designated by the Ministry of Education to 17 provincial offices of education.

Kim Tae-woo, Director of the Information Security Division at KERIS, said, "This MOU will strengthen the mutual cooperation system between the Ministry of Education, KERIS, and officials from the Information Security Gifted Education Centers in each region and serve as a catalyst for new driving force."
